Bernstein: Bulls' Action Is Better Than Nothing

(CBS) I can't quibble with the return the Bulls received from the Knicks for Derrick Rose, seeing that I have been exhorting them to make major moves to overhaul a roster and a locker room that both need fixing.
The Bulls ended up getting more than I expected a team to offer for what's left of Rose -- two viable veterans and a young playmaker with upside. That they actually went and did it is as significant as anything else, as was hearing from general manager Gar Forman on Wednesday that he agreed that we could see that any championship window was starting to close more than a year ago.

Given the opportunity to commit publicly to Jimmy Butler by labeling him untradeable, Forman stopped short. That's a good sign, if it means another multi-player deal for him continues to be discussed.
Butler is the player who emasculated the coach, then refused to do what he said in an ongoing show of defiance that sapped Fred Hoiberg's authority from the outset. Moving Butler should be part of this controlled burn, too. If they could find somebody who valued Rose to that degree, they can try to sell high on Butler by finding an NBA team that thinks Butler is as good as he thinks he is.
