Two Siblings Stabbed While Breaking Up Fight In South Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Charges are pending against a man who stabbed a 17-year-old girl and her 19-year-old brother when they tried to break up an argument early Thursday in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The siblings were trying to break up an argument between their mom and the 65-year-old man at 2:48 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Commercial when the man grabbed a knife and stabbed them, according to Chicago Police.

The 17-year-old was stabbed in the chest and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said. The 19-year-old was stabbed in the leg and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

The 65-year-old man was in police custody Thursday morning, and charges against him were pending.
