White Sox Promote 3B Matt Davidson To Big Leagues

(CBS) The White Sox have recalled third baseman Matt Davidson from Triple-A Charlotte.

The 25-year-old Davidson received the promotion after Chicago option struggling left-hander Matt Purke to Charlotte after Wednesday night's 9-6 win against Minnesota.

Davidson is hitting .268 with 10 homers, 35 runs and 46 RBIs in 75 games at Charlotte this season. He has been named to the Triple-A All-Star team.

Davidson's only big league experience came with the Diamondbacks in 2013, when he hit .237 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 31 games.
