Person In Custody In Fatal Ford Heights Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A person is in custody for the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man Friday morning in south suburban Ford Heights.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 10:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of 14th Place in Ford Heights found Tyjuan Willingham with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Cook County sheriff's police and the medical examiner's office.

Willingham was taken to Franciscan St. James Health in Chicago Heights, where he died at 2:18 p.m., authorities said. The shooting happened down the street from his Ford Heights home in the 1400 block of Deer Creek Drive.

An autopsy Saturday ruled his death a homicide.

A person has since been taken into custody for the shooting, sheriff's police said. No charges had been filed as of Saturday evening.
