Bears' Trevathan Reflects On Charles Tillman's Career: 'One Of The Best'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Danny Trevathan has only been a Bears linebacker for four months, but he can appreciate franchise history.
Monday marked the end to Charles Tillman's 13-year NFL career as he announced his retirement, and Trevathan appreciates what arguably the best cornerback in organization history brought to the table.
Speaking at Wrigley Field on Tuesday prior to throwing out the first pitch, Trevathan reflected on Tillman's career.
"I'm sad to see him go, but I feel like he played this game, he was one of the best to do it," Trevathan said. "Turnovers were one of his thing. He would punch the ball out, make plays and all that. I feel like he's a Chicago Bear all the time."
Tillman spent his first 12 seasons with the Bears before playing 2015 for the Panthers, so Trevathan and Tillman never played together. However, they were on opposite sides in Super Bowl 50, which Denver and Trevathan won. Trevathan wore his championship ring Tuesday, showing it around with pride.
One of the all-time great Bears, Tillman set a modern example for franchise excellence. Trevathan is following the cornerback's lead.
"I want to be known as one of the greatest of all time to ever play," Trevathan said. "It comes with work."
