Bears' Pernell McPhee (Knee), 2 Others Placed PUP List

By Chris Emma--

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (CBS) -- It wasn't all smiles and good vibes as the Bears reported to training camp at Olivet Nazarene on Wednesday.

Linebacker Pernell McPhee has been placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with his surgically repaired left knee remaining a concern. Receiver Marquess Wilson (foot) and guard Amini Silatolu (knee) have also been placed on the PUP list, which allows for activation at any time in the preseason.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace stated that it was "too soon to tell" whether McPhee could play in preseason games.

McPhee, 27, played in 14 games during his first season with the Bears but was bothered by the knee throughout the entire campaign. He first appeared on the injury report during the preseason, and the pain lingered, even as he denied the injury.

"When healthy, you saw what he was capable of early last season," Bears coach John Fox said.

Wilson was expected to be placed on the PUP list. He could miss regular-season games with a re-fractured foot suffered in mini-camp. Silatolua is recovering from offseason knee surgery.

The Bears reported for training camp in Bourbonnais on Wednesday. Their first practices comes Thursday without three players, including a key starter in McPhee.
