United Flight Diverted To O'Hare After 'Noncritical Threat'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A United Airlines flight was diverted to O'Hare for an "non critical threat,' according to an airline spokesperson.

Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said somebody called in a bomb threat and officers were conducting a precautionary search.

Out of abundance of caution, Flight 1696 diverted to Chicago. The plane took off from Newark and was found for Seattle.

Several police cars were seen alongside the aircraft as investigators appeared to be searching through baggage.

The passengers were taken off the plane and moved to the terminal.
