Man Loses Wallet At Packed Concert Hall, Good Samaritan Tracks Him Down

(CBS) -- Have you ever lost your wallet?  If so, you know that sinking feeling and all the fears of identity theft or fraud that go along with it.

One Chicago man has a much different story after losing his wallet, thanks to a Good Samaritan.

CBS 2's Mai Martinez talked with both.

It was a happy reunion for Scott Barnes and his wallet this week after an unexpected separation.

"I never lost a wallet before," he says.

But last Thursday, he did – at the Aragon Ballroom.

"I walked up to the bar to get a drink and noticed I didn't have my wallet, and I look back out onto the dance floor and there's this sea of hundreds of people out there and I thought, 'I'm never going to see that again,'" he says.

But he was wrong. Tuesday, he saw a message on Facebook asking him if he had lost the wallet.

"I was really shocked," he says.

"I found him on Facebook and shot him a message," Kenji Negi explains.

"I know it sucks to lose a wallet at the end of the day, and I've lost my wallet in the past before. Unfortunately, I never got it back," he adds.

Negi had a friend hand-deliver the wallet Tuesday night.

"The cash was there. The credit cards were untouched. Everything was there, and no one wanted a reward at all," Barnes says. "It made me feel really good about where we live."

So good that Barnes shared the story on social media.

Barnes hopes to take his Good Samaritans out for a drink, to show his appreciation.
