Another Round Of Police Protests Planned For Chicago Today

(CBS) -- Chicago roared with dismay Friday after the release of the Paul O'Neal police-camera videos on Friday.

CBS 2's Lauren Victory reports on the protests planned for today.

Some activists are calling for a "National Day of Action." A large protest expected in Chicago will coincide with demonstrations in other U.S. cities also struggling with police-community relations.

"We haven't seen a level of police officers being prosecuted on the federal level, and we can't rely on the states to do anything because it hasn't happened," says Gregg Greer of Freedom First International.

Saturday's protest follows demonstrations outside Chicago police headquarters Friday evening. More than two dozen people confronted officers, pointing to their body cameras and asking if the cameras were working.

Police officials say the body camera on the officer believed to have shot O'Neal last week did not record the event.

The Independent Police Review Authority continues to investigate the circumstances in this case.
