'Cooking With Cops' Students Visit Michael Jordan's Steak House
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Students from the Bella Cuisine "Cooking with Cops" program were joined Tuesday with their chef police partners for a little lunch and conversation.
The gist of the program is to ensure the police and the youth of the community have a good working relationship, said Latrice McArthur, Founder and Chef of Bella Cuisine Kids Cooking Club (BCKCC).
"Today is about eating," McArthur said, "We brought them here to Michael Jordan's today to see where our volunteer Chef Craig Cooper works and prepares food. He is one of the chefs who comes out and lends his services and his tips and expertise to our kids."

McArthur said over the last few months, the students have been working all year on creating healthy menus, shopping together for ingredients and practicing recipes, WBBM's Lisa Fielding reports.
"Not only does it give an example to our young folks what a future career could be," McArthur said. "But also gives them food experiences outside what they normally have on a day to day basis. It expands their pallets."
On Sept. 2, the students and police officers will create their own pop up restaurant and serve a three course meal to their neighbors.
"The police officers are nice," said 12-year-old, Ehis Aramacella. "I love learning to cook with them."
BCKCC was founded seven years ago to demonstrate to youth the benefits of healthy eating. Today BCKCC engages nearly 500 students, ages eight-15, in schools on Chicago's South and West sides.
