The Bernstein Brief: Kris Bryant's Performance Joins Impressive List

(CBS) Have a day, Kris Bryant, and a season while you're at it.
On Thursday, the second-year Cubs slugger was 5-for-5 at the plate with two home tuns, five runs batted in and four runs scored. His WAR, per Fangraphs.com, is now a whopping 6.3, tied with Houston's Jose Altuve for second in all of baseball behind the Angels' other-worldly Mike Trout at 6.9.
Chris Kamka of Comcast SportsNet Chicago noted on Twitter that Bryant's single-game stat line put him in some elite company as a Cub, because since 1970, only a handful have achieved at least four hits, four runs and four RBIs in one game.
Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg did it in 1989, Hall of Famer would-be Sammy Sosa accomplished the feat in 1995 and Alfonso Soriano -- he of the 412 career homers and .819 OPS -- did it in 2008.
The other names already on the list?
Kris Bryant, who did it on April 21 of this year, and Kris Bryant, who also did it on June 27.
