2016 Back-To-School Fashion Features Retro Styles

CHICAGO (CBS) -- School is back in session for much of the Chicago area and that means shopping for back-to-school clothes.

This year, the fashions run the gamut from the 1970s to the 2000s. But don't fret on what trends to follow. CBS2's Marissa Bailey spoke with Pam Hamil of Simon Premium Outlets about how to update your kid's clothes with up-to-date back-to-school fashion, at discounted prices.

Most of the looks are between 25 to 65 percent off at Simon's three Chicago-area Premium Outlets: Lighthouse Place in Indiana; Pleasant Prarie, Wisc. near Kenosha; and Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora.

This fall, popular 70s staples mock turtlenecks and flare jeans are making a comeback, Hamil says, and skinny jeans are being traded for wide-leg, high-waisted pants.

Athleisure is getting an 80s twist with parachute pants, and you'll see the 90s grunge look creep back into style with more graphic tees and plaid flannels.

You can find some of these styles at The Gap Factory, American Eagle Outfitters, among other Simon Premium Outlets stores.
