Man Seriously Injured Jumping Onto I-57 To Escape Chicago Police
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was seriously injured when he jumped onto I-57 to escape police Thursday morning on the Far South Side.
Chicago Police officers were chasing a man wanted for retail theft about 8:30 a.m. when he jumped from the 119th Street overpass onto I-57, authorities said.
He jumped onto the bed of a semi truck, rolled off and was partially run over by the truck, police said.
The man, thought to be in his 20s, was taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
