Youth Outreach Services Hosts Fundraiser

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Youth Outreach Services' Auxiliary Board hosts Monday their first official fundraising event.

Youth Outreach Services (YOS) is a Chicago-based non-profit organization that partners with at-risk youth and their families to help them discover what they are capable of achieving. Their vision is a society that treasures the safety, well-being and self-worth of every child.

The event includes drinks and appetizers, with the funds supporting the YOS organization. The youth involved in the program will be showing off their work.

YOS has worked with more than 300,000 teens and families since 1959.

"Our path is to get kids back on a path of a healthy adolescent development," said Rick Velasquez, Youth Outreach Services on Revolution. "We expect young people to be insightful in their thinking, to be able to be healthy, to be able to be good citizens, and to be thoughtful."

YOS provides a variety of services to get young people back on track, including, substance abuse treatment services, mental health services; the organization also focuses on helping people who are homeless.

The fundraiser is hosted by the young auxiliary board, a group of young professionals who help support the YOS mission.
