Report: Recently Claimed CB K'Waun Williams Fails Physical, Won't Join Bears

(CBS) A day after being awarded to the Bears on waivers, cornerback K'Waun Williams has failed his physical and won't join the team, the Tribune's Brad Biggs reported Wednesday afternoon.

The 25-year-old Williams has had serious problems with his ankle recently, and that was the root of a drama that led to him being waived by the Browns on Monday. Cleveland suspended him for two weeks after he refused to play in a game against Green Bay early in the preseason, Cleveland.com previously reported.

Williams' perspective was that he wasn't healthy enough to play and was seeking a second opinion. The Browns' belief was that Williams didn't communicate the specifics about his ankle injury to them and when he did it only came after he also told them he was retiring, Cleveland.com reported.

Now, both Williams and the Bears will be turning elsewhere. Chicago remains in deep of help at cornerback, as Kyle Fuller (knee), Tracy Porter (concussion) and Bryce Callahan (hamstring) have been hobbled in the preseason.
