2 Men Shot, 1 Fatally, On South Side; SWAT Assisting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were shot in the 6800 block of South Emerald at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, resulting in the death of one, Chicago Police confirmed.

A 24-year-old male was shot in the head, transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and later died.

A 26-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and a graze would to the head. Police said he was transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in stable condition.

Additional information was not immediately available, however Area South detectives are investigating the shootings, and a SWAT team is assisting.
