(CBS) The Bears’ practice squad is at nine with the signings of cornerback Demontre Hurst and center Cornelius Edison.
Both Hurst and Edison were initially picked to the Bears’ 53-man roster but were waived in order for the team to complete its claim of offensive lineman Eric Kush and cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc.
Edison had worked as the Bears’ starting center in a pinch last week, but the additions of Kush and three-time Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton made him expendable. Hurst is considered a depth piece in the secondary.
On Sunday, the Bears added seven to their practice squad, signing Senorise Perry, Ben Braunecker, Daniel Braverman, De’Vante Bausby, John Timu, Matt Barkley and Jason Weaver.
