White Sox Activate Miguel Gonzalez, Add 3 Others

(CBS) The White Sox made a series of roster moves Tuesday afternoon, notably activating right-hander Miguel Gonzalez for his scheduled start Tuesday evening against the Tigers.

Chicago also recalled outfielder Jason Coats and infielder Leury Garcia from Triple-A Charlotte and purchased the contract of right-hander Blake Smith from Triple-A as well.

Gonzalez is 2-6 with a 4.05 ERA this season.

The 26-year-old Coats is batting .189 with one homer and three RBIs in 18 games in three stints with the White Sox. He was hitting .330 with 10 homers and 38 RBIs in 78 games at Triple-A.

The 25-year-old Garcia was hitting .313 with six homers and 35 RBIs in 84 games at Triple-A, where he's spent the entire season. Smith, 28, was 3-1 with a 3.53 ERA in 39 relief appearances at Charlotte.
