Wrigley Field Buzzing With The Chicago Cubs' Clinch Possibility

CHICAGO (CBS) – Wrigley Field will be a buzz Thursday night, as the Chicago Cubs have the chance to clinch their division championship with a win.

If the Cubs clinch their division, it will be the first time in 8 years.

The neighborhood surrounding the ballpark has been preparing for a party.

And to prepare for that party, extra police will be spread throughout Wrigleyville as 40,000 fans are expected inside the ballpark with more fans outside the park, in the hope to celebrate a Cubs division title, said 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney.

"Tonight is kind of a warm up," for the playoffs, Tunney said. He suggested that fans "use common sense" because Chicago will be on the national stage for the next month.

He also suggested that, because there will be so many people in the neighborhood for the game, it is best to take public transportation.

Alderman Tunney said the bars in the neighborhood have been forewarned.

"There will be plenty of city officials inspecting bars for occupancy, overcapacity, over-serving."

Tunney believe the bars were told to use plastic cups during the playoffs for safety purposes.

"We're going to treat this pretty much the same way we did last year," said Rich Guidice, 1st Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications. "We will let the crowd dictate. We will see how the evening is going, but we have measures in place to address any situation that comes up."
