Massive House Fire In Long Grove

LONG GROVE (CBS) -- A house was destroyed Friday night after a massive fire started in north suburban Long Grove.

Long Grove Fire Department responded to a fire call around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.

Fire officials said there were no fire hydrants in the area so they had to resort to plan B.

"This particular area has no fire hydrants, so we have to bring several water tenders into the incident," said Mark Small, Long Grove Fire Department Deputy Chief. "We have approximately 12 water tenders carrying approximately 3,000 gallons of water each. We have approxiamtely 75 firefighters on the scene."

The house was destroyed. No one was home at the time of the fire.
