Bears Elevate Matt Barkley To Active Roster

(CBS) The Bears have elevated quarterback Matt Barkley to the active roster as starter Jay Cutler is expected to be sidelined for several weeks with a sprained right thumb.

Barkley has appeared three NFL games with the Eagles in 2013, going 30-of-49 for 300 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions. He appeared in one game for Philadelphia in 2014, throwing just one pass, an incompletion.

To make room for Barkley, the Bears have placed linebacker Lamarr Houston on the season-ending injured reserve after he tore his ACL in Sunday's loss. He led the Bears with eight sacks in 2015.

Additionally, Chicago added fullback Paul Lasike to the practice squad. He started once for the Bears this year before he was cut.
