2 Killed, 6 Wounded In Tuesday Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men were killed and at least six other people were wounded in shootings Tuesday across Chicago, police said.

A 32-year-old man was found shot to death in the kitchen of an Ashburn neighborhood home on the Southwest Side, according to Chicago Police.

Emergency crews were called at 4:29 p.m. to the home in the 3800 block of West 84th Place, and they found the man dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not immediately confirm the death.

More than 12 hours earlier, a man was fatally shot in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. Jevon O'Brien, 26, was shot in the head at 4:05 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Jonquil Terrace, according to police and the medical examiner's office. O'Brien was taken by friends to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 5:50 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 7700 block of North Paulina. Additional information on the shooting was not immediately available as witnesses were not cooperating with investigators. Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

The most recent nonfatal shooting was recorded about 7:25 p.m. in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side. A 36-year-old man was walking in an alley in the 300 block of West 103rd Street when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.

Less than 90 minutes earlier, a 25-year-old man was shot in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side. He was shot in the leg and suffered a graze wound to the neck about 6:15 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Harper, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. Additional information was not immediately available.

At 1:20 p.m. in the South Chicago neighborhood, a 25-year-old man left a store in the 7900 block of South Saginaw and was walking south when someone got out of a vehicle and fired shots, according to police. He was shot in the left leg and taken in good condition to South Shore Hospital. The shooter got back in the vehicle and took off after the attack.

Just before 1 p.m., a 31-year-old man was standing on a corner in the 4900 block of West Hubbard in the West Side Austin neighborhood when four people walked up to him and at least one of them opened fire, hitting him in the right hip, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Tuesday morning, a 33-year-old man was seriously wounded in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting. He was sitting in a car at 11:55 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Van Buren when he was approached by two males, one of whom fired shots, police said. He was shot three times in the torso, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition. The suspects ran away after the shooting.

The day's first shooting happened at 12:53 a.m. in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. A 29-year-old man was walking in the 300 block of East 81st Street when two males walked up behind him and opened fire, striking him twice in the back, police said. He was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital.
