Bears' Kevin White To Have Surgery On Fibula This Week

(CBS) Bears second-year receiver Kevin White will have surgery this week on the fractured fibula in his left leg, coach John Fox told reporters Monday.

White was sent to injured reserve last week, which will keep him out through at least Week 12, per league rules. White suffered his injury on Oct. 2, when he suffered a severe ankle sprain that played a part in the stressing his bone and led to the break.

It's the second straight season White has suffered a major injury, as he missed all of his 2015 rookie campaign with a left leg fracture. The Bears would like to see White return this season, but that's no certainty. Teams can designate one player to return from the IR.

White was general manager Ryan Pace's first draft pick in his Bears tenure, being selected seventh overall in 2015. White has 19 catches for 187 yards in four career games.
