(CBS) The Blackhawks have placed forward Andrew Desjardins on injured reserve, they announced Monday.
Desjardins suffered an unspecified injury in Saturday’s loss at St. Louis. He was fighting for a roster spot among several others and will now be out at least seven days. He had 13 points in 77 regular-season games in 2015-’16 and was counted on for his defensive abilities as well.
Additionally, the Blackhawks assigned 19-year-old forward Alexandre Fortin to Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He’d impressed in recent months, signing a three-year entry-level contract. Chicago also sent goalie Ivan Nalimov to Vladivostok Admiral of the Kontinental Hockey League.
Chicago opens the season Wednesday by hosting St. Louis at the United Center.
