CHICAGO (CBS) -- A person died after being pulled out of Lake Michigan on Saturday afternoon on the North Side.

About 2:30 p.m., someone spotted the body floating from the shoreline and rescue crews pulled the male victim out of the water about 100 yards from Montrose Harbor at 601 W. Montrose Ave., according to preliminary information from Chicago Police and Fire Media Affairs.

The deceased, who remained unidentified as of Monday morning, was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where he died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy Sunday did not rule on cause and manner of death with results pending further studies.
