Man Charged With Armed Robbery In Uptown

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 52-year-old man was charged with an armed robbery of a woman who he held against her will early Thursday in Uptown.

Darnell Lamont Murphy was arrested and charged with a felony count of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, a felony count of disarming a police officer, a felony count of unlawful restraint and two felony counts of resisting a peace officer, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

The robbery happened just after midnight Thursday in the 4700 block of North Winthrop Avenue, when Murphy held a 22-year-old woman against her will and demanded her personal property, police said. When officers arrived, Murphy resisted arrested and attempted to disarm an officer.

Murphy, of the 1600 block of West LeMoyne, is scheduled to appear in bond court on Friday.
