Naperville Firefighter Charged With Child Pornography Possession

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Naperville firefighter was arrested on child pornography charges after police allegedly found lewd images of minors at his northwest suburban home.

Detectives from the Elgin Police Department executed a search warrant Thursday at 47-year-old Louis J. DiGrazia's home in the 900 block of Glenmore Lane in Elgin, according to a statement from the Kane County state's attorney's office. When they searched his computer, they found multiple images of children under 13 years old "unclothed and in lewd positions."

DiGrazia, who works as a firefighter for the city of Naperville, was charged with five Class X felony counts of possession of child pornography, prosecutors said.

The city of Naperville is conducting an internal investigation and has placed DiGrazia on unpaid administrative leave "effective immediately," city spokeswoman Linda LaCloche said in a statement.

DiGrazia was ordered held on a $200,000 bond Friday morning, according to the state's attorney's office. If he posts bond, he will be prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors or accessing the internet.

If convicted, DiGrazia would face a minimum sentence of six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, prosecutors said. He would also be required to register for life as a sex offender.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 10 before Kane County Circuit Judge John A. Barsanti.
