Cubs' Kyle Schwarber Hitless In Fall League Debut, Drives One Deep To Outfield
(CBS) As he makes an 11th-hour push to return to the Cubs for the World Series, Kyle Schwarber went 0-for-3 with a walk for the Mesa Solar Sox in his Arizona Fall League debut Saturday night.
Schwarber hit one deep drive to the outfield that was tracked down on a terrific catch by the center fielder just shy of the warning track, according to reporter Matthew Lively.
Earlier Saturday, the Cubs acknowledged that including Schwarber on the 25-man roster for the World Series is a possibility. He tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee in early April and was ruled out for the season. On multiple occasions, the Cubs shot down questions about a possible return in 2016 for Schwarber.
Until now.
"There's a chance," manager Joe Maddon said.
Many factors still have to line up for Schwarber to be included on the World Series roster, as 670 The Score's Bruce Levine explained.
