It Will Cost You To See History, Cubs Tickets Spike For World Series

CHICAGO (CBS) – Cubs fans have been waiting a long time to see their team in the World Series. 71 years to be exact. But, hopefully those fans have been saving their money while they have been waiting, because tickets to see the team will not be cheap.

After a check of StubHub this morning, a ticket to sit behind home plate will cost one $40,000 and to just stand in the stadium will cost one $2,000.

If you are looking for something a little more affordable and can take a trip, tickets for game one in Cleveland at Progressive Field are around $800 for standing room and $5,000 for behind home plate.

Flights from Chicago to Cleveland are a low at $400, but they are not direct. There is also a megabus that one can take there for $70 roundtrip.

"It's a Van Gogh of the ticket business, that is what this is," said Steve Buzil, of sitclose.com. "They might sell their car, maybe a kid, but they are going to go to the game."

Buzil suggests waiting until Wednesday or later to buy a ticket. The prices have been noticed to go down from overnight.

Many hotels in downtown Cleveland are sold out, but one can find cheaper motels a few miles out for under $100.
