2 Dead, 2 Wounded In Shootings Wednesday Across Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men were killed and two more people were wounded in separate shootings in less than 11 hours Wednesday across Chicago.
At 7:11 p.m., a man was shot to death in the Goose Island neighborhood on the Near West Side. The man, thought to be between 30 and 40, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the 900 block of North Racine, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. Authorities were still trying to identify him as Area Central detectives launched a homicide investigation.
Earlier Wednesday afternoon, a 26-year-old man was gunned down in the Sheridan Park neighborhood on the North Side. Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 3:40 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Racine found Tramell Williams lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. Williams, whose home address was not known, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 4:12 p.m.
The day's latest shooting happened about 11:05 p.m. in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. A 17-year-old boy was walking in an alley in the 700 block of West 59th when a male inside a dark car fired shots at him, police said. The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, and his condition was stabilized.
In Wednesday's first shooting, a 23-year-old man was walking about 12:40 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Jackson in the West Side Austin neighborhood, when he heard gunfire and felt pain, police said. The man was shot in the leg and took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in good condition.
