Chicago-Centric Auction Benefits Camps And Programs For Children With Cancer

A local charity that offers unique experiences to children with cancer is having a Chicago-centric auction, with proceeds directly helping the kids they serve.

The main goal of Children's Oncology Services, INC. (COSI) is to help kids with cancer reclaim their lives through camp experiences and excursions that act as diversions from their illnesses. A 501(c)3 charity, COSI work with volunteers from both Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

On November 11 at 7 p.m., COSI will have their Flight event, a dinner at downtown Chicago's Four Seasons hotel featuring a silent and live auction throughout the night. Over 100 items will be auctioned off, many of which have a Chicago connection. Some of the items included: a bat signed by Chicago Cub Anthony Rizzo, a couple of rounds of golf at Hilton Head and tickets to a Blackhawks game.

Once diagnosed with cancer, a child's life suddenly becomes enveloped in doctor appointments and treatments. Through their programs, COSI attempts to also give kids going through these experiences a space to just be kids.
