Police Continue To Search For Missing 18-Year-Old Girl

CHICAGO (CBS) – Police are hoping some new developments will lead them to a missing 18-year-old girl from the northwest suburbs.

Kianna Galvin was last seen leaving her home in South Elgin back in May, but now police are looking at new leads. CBS 2's Sandra Torres reports.

With every flyer and every photo, Fiona Galvin wants to keep her daughter's story alive.

"Doing everything I possibly can to get her face and name out there to other people so they can see her, let the police know," Fiona Galvin said.

It has been six months since 18-year-old Kianna went missing, after leaving her home in South Elgin.

"It was Friday, May 6 of this year," Galvin said. "She said to her sister she was just going to the friend's house and then to the park."

But Kianna never made it to the park or her home.

"It is a reoccurring nightmare, every day waking up and not knowing, not being able to talk to her or see her," Galvin said.

South Elgin Police said they are working with multiple agencies to try and find her. Just three days ago, they served a search warrant in a home in the area, in connection with her disappearance.

"A significant effort to get more leads and help with the investigation to the whereabouts of Kianna," said South Elgin Police Deputy Chief Randy Endean.

And even though those efforts bring some comfort to the family, the ultimate goal is to bring her home.

"We want her to be home," said family friend, Carolyn Cynowa. "Somebody's got to know something."

Mother, Fiona Galvin said they are not going to give up searching for Kianna.

Police also told CBS 2 that in the next few weeks, two billboards will go up with her name and photo to bring more attention to the case – one in the South Elgin area and the other closer to Chicago.
