Bears' John Fox: Jordan Howard Suffers Apparent 'Ankle Or Achilles' Injury

By Chris Emma--

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS) -- As if it couldn't get any worse for the Bears, rookie running back Jordan Howard has apparently suffered an injury.

Following the Bears' 36-10 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday, coach John Fox revealed that Howard suffered what was either an ankle or Achilles injury.

"We're not sure the exact injury yet," Fox said.

Fox couldn't confirm any specifics to the injury, nor did he know when it occurred.

Howard spoke to reporters after the game and believed he was fine, saying it was just tightness. He wasn't wearing a protective boot and didn't show any signs of a limp.

Sunday's loss to the Bucs proved to be a costly one of the Bears, who lost Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long to a potentially serious right ankle injury. Long was carted off the field with his right leg in an aircast.

In the defeat, Howard rushed for 100 yards on 15 carries. He has now surpassed the century mark four times in his first six NFL starts.

Fox will update the Bears' injury statuses when he meets the media Monday at Halas Hall.
