Pope Francis Is A Chicago Cubs Fan
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Not only was the Cubs' roster built for a World Series title, the team had the pope on its side.
Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich tweeted a picture Tuesday of himself and Pope Francis holding a Cubs hat and autographed baseball.
"News of the @Cubs win reached all the way to the #Vatican! @Pontifex can now celebrate with us and he asks for our prayers! #FlytheW," Cupich said.
The photo was taken last week, an official with the Chicago Archdiocese said.
Cupich is currently in Baltimore for a meeting of the U.S. Conference Of Bishops and is traveling to Rome later this week, where he will be elevated by Pope Francis to Cardinal.
