Shedd Searching For New Home For 5-Year-Old Rescue Dog

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Shedd Aquarium is searching for a permanent home for one of its rescue dogs, 5-year-old Kobe.

The 5-year-old male Dogo Argentino mix was adopted by the Shedd from a Chicago rescue last year, according to a statement from the aquarium. When found, he was very thin and dirty, and rescuers suspected he may have been a junkyard dog. His previous owners had tried to crop his ears with a pair of scissors.

At the Shedd, Kobe performed in the "One World" aquatic presentation and successfully completed training with the Shedd's Animal Response Team.

Now the aquarium, along with Lucky Dog Rescue, is ready to find his forever home.

"Kobe is loving, enjoys being with people, and socializes very well with other dogs. Some of his favorite things to do are play with his squeaky toys, hang around with Shedd staff, and nibble on yummy frozen treats!" according to the Shedd statement.
