Cubs Claim Reliever David Rollins Off Waivers From Mariners

(CBS) The Cubs claimed left-handed reliver David Rollins off waivers from the Mariners on Friday.

The 26-year-old Rollins spent most of his 2016 season at Triple-A Tacoma, where he went 5-0 with a 3.77 ERA in 37 appearances. He had a 0.99 WHIP and a .236 opponent batting average. He had a 7.71 ERA in 9 1/3 innings across 11 relief appearances for the Mariners.

In 2015, Rollins served an 80-game suspension for violating MLB's performance-enhancing drug policy. He tested positive for stanozolol, a synthetic anabolic steroid, the league said at the time, per ESPN.com.

Rollins was a 24th-round pick by the Blue Jays in 2011.
