Bears' Current Odds Of Grabbing No. 1 Pick: 1.2%

(CBS) Plagued by poor play, injuries and a lack of depth, the Bears' season has spiraled into a 2-9 mess. All that's left to do is evaluate how players fit in the team's plan for the future and see where the Bears slot into the 2017 NFL Draft.

In regards to that last point, we update you with this: Chicago has a 1.2 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick, according to ESPN's Football Power Index metric. Of course, the 0-12 Cleveland Browns nearly have the top pick on lockdown, with a 90.8 percent chance to grab it, per ESPN.

Currently, the Bears hold the No. 3 position in the draft, trailing the Browns and the 49ers (1-10). Chicago has a chance to climb in the draft order Sunday, when it hosts San Francisco at Soldier Field. A loss would give the Bears and 49ers the same record. In tiebreaker scenarios at season's end, a reverse strength of schedule is utilized, meaning the team that played the easier slate gets the higher draft pick.

The Bears have a great mathematical odds of landing a top-five pick, with those chances checking in at 89.7 percent, per FPI. Chicago has picked in the top five only twice since 1983.The Bears took running back Curtis Enis at No. 5 in 1998, and they selected running back Cedric Benson at No. 4 in 2005.
