Milwaukee Teacher Charged With Sexual Assault Of 16-Year-Old Boy

MILWAUKEE (CBS) -- A former Milwaukee teacher has been sentenced to prison for the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy.

There were lewd text messages, according to prosecutors between the teacher, 31-year-old Elizabeth Dillett and the boy. WBBM's Mike Krauser reports.

When confronted by his parents, who were friends of Dillett, she admitted what happened, eventually, and begged them not to go to police.

Now, Dillett is going to prison for two years. She asked for leniency before the sentence.

"I'm sorry," she said at times breaking down. "I know that word has come out way too many times. I know I have disappointed and embarrassed me and my friends."

The boy's mother works for child-protective services and said in a statement, read in court by her husband, while she was protecting other children, she was not protecting her own.

Outside the courtroom, there was a confrontation between the boy's father and supporters of the teacher, CBS 58 Milwaukee reports.

"What are you gonna do?" A man yelled. "That's my son!"

The boy's father testified that Dillett after admitting to having sexual relations with the boy, begged the parents not to go to police.

He said Dillett seemed more concerned about keeping her job than the impact of what she did.
