A Police Chase Results In A Fiery Crash In Grand Crossing
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cars collided and bursted into flames Wednesday as result of a police chase in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.
CBS 2's Audrina Bigos has what witnesses say led up to the crash.
Witnesses told CBS 2 they saw the end of a police chase. A man got out of his car and ran away from police, after hitting several cars.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on 76th and South Chicago in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.
Witnesses say they saw about 10 squad cars chasing a black car, which hit several other cars, causing one car to catch fire.
A store clerk at a nearby gas station said he was the whole thing and watched a man get out of his car and run away from police
"The sound of the crash was very loud," said store clerk, Wael Eldadah. "I thought it was inside the gas station. In the black car, a white girl got out and her face was bleeding. She tried to run away but police caught her."
The clerk shot video of the incident on his phone. Video footage shows a car on fire outside the gas station. The clerk then ran inside to hit the panic button and shit the gas line off.
CBS 2 reached out to Chicago Police to find out the extent of the injuries from the crash and if there were any arrests made. CBS 2 is also awaiting police details on how and when the chase started.
