Cubs Are Taking World Series Trophy On A Tour For Fans To See

(CBS) The Cubs are taking their World Series trophy on a Stanley Cup-like tour to give fans across the city, state and Midwest a chance to celebrate and soak in the championship glory.

The tour starts Friday, when the Commissioner's Trophy will be on display for fans to take photos with from noon to 3 p.m. at the new official Cubs Team Store. The temporary address is at 663 N. Michigan.

"We're excited to share our cherished trophy with fans this offseason as we celebrate such a historic World Series Championship," owner Tom Ricketts said in a statement. "This year's World championship team is unparalleled, and so are our fans. We can't wait for them to experience the joy of seeing this piece of history in person."

The next public appearance set for the trophy is next Thursday at Chicago City Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After that, the trophy goes on a road trip, with visits set for Bloomington, Champaign, Freeport, Peoria, the Quad Cities, Rock and Springfield in Illinois. The trophy will also visit South Bend and Indianapolis in Indiana and Des Moines and other cities in Iowa. More movement across the Midwest is expected as well.
