Jesse Jackson Jr. Files For Divorce

(CBS) -- One of Chicago's former political power couples is calling it quits.

According to court documents, Jesse Jackson Jr. filed for a certificate of dissolution marriage Monday but began divorce proceedings in July while his wife was still in prison. The former congressman cited "irreconcilable differences."

The Jacksons have been married for 25 years.

He is asking for primary custody of the couple's two children, according to a court filing dated Monday.

The Jacksons were both convicted in 2013 after Jesse Jackson Jr. took some $750,000 from his campaign fund and used it for personal purchases.

Sandi Jackson, a former Chicago alderman, helped run the campaign fund.
