With Help Of Batmobile, Cubs' Kyle Schwarber Surprises A 10-Year-Old He's Befriended
(CBS) Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber used a Batmobile to surprise a 10-year-old boy whom he's taken under his wing in a heartwarming story that traces back to spring training 2015.
On Sunday, Schwarber attended a surprise party in the Phoenix area for Campbell Faulkner, who's battling a mitochondrial disease, according to MLB.com. Faulkner is the youngster whom Schwarber has stayed in touch with since meeting him two spring trainings ago, and Schwarber has often worn a green wristband that Faulkner had given him in a sign of their friendship.
During their recent day together, Schwarber drove around a Batmobile witih Faulkner riding shotgun as Batman for a day. Schwarber told MLB.com that they cruised for about an hour and even did burnouts.
"He's a kid who can always put a smile on my face," Schwarber said in October.
