Craig Sager Dies At 65

(AP/CBS) Longtime NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager has died at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer.

Turner President David Levy made the announcement Thursday, without saying when or where Sager passed away.

Famous for his flashy suits and probing questions, Sager worked basketball games for TNT for nearly a quarter-century.

"There will never be another Craig Sager," Levy said.

Sager first announced in April 2014 that he had been diagnosed with leukemia, and he missed the playoffs and much of the following season as he underwent two bone marrow transplants.

Sager revealed in March that his leukemia was no longer in remission. He said doctors told him the typical prognosis was three to six months to live, but "I am receiving the best treatment in the world and I remain fully confident I will win this battle."

Sager was a native of Batavia, Northwestern graduate and a Cubs fan. In June, Sager threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field, which he called one of the best experiences of his life.

"I've done World Cup soccer. I've done the Olympics, the Super Bowls, the World Series and the NBA Finals, PGA Championships, I've done everything," Sager told the Associated Press at the time. "So when they called and asked if I wanted to throw out the first pitch, I was thinking, not only have I never done it, but I never even thought about it. I never even thought about it being possible. So when they called I said, 'Heck, yes!' … It's a very big thrill for me."
