Watch: Steve Kerr Leads Moment Of Joy Instead Of Moment Of Silence For Craig Sager

(CBS) The death of beloved TNT broadcaster Craig Sager reverberated around the NBA on Thursday.

The deep sorrow was offset by the many fond, glorious memories that so many had of the energetic, passionate Sager, who passed away at 65 from complications of leukemia.

In Golden State, Warriors coach Steve Kerr -- a former TNT broadcaster himself and good friend of Sager's -- took the microphone before tip-off against the Knicks. Instead of a moment of silence for Sager, Kerr thought it more appropriate to have a moment of joy, asking the crowd to join in an ovation.

"We lost a big part of the league's soul," Kerr said.

"Nobody had more zest for life and passion and joy, the way he lived, than Craig."
