Blackhawks Sign Michal Rozsival, Jordin Tootoo To 1-Year Extensions

(CBS) The Blackhawks have signed defenseman Michal Rozsival and defenseman Jordin Tootoo to one-year contract extensions, they announced Tuesday. Both are now under contract through the 2017-'18 season.

The move was made with this June's expansion draft for the Vegas Golden in mind. Teams must make at least one defenseman and two forwards available who have played in least 70 games over the past two seasons, the Tribune reported, and Rozsival and Tootoo are on track to fulfill that requirement. By having them under contract through 2017-'18, the Blackhawks can expose them and protect other players who they view as more vital to their future.

The 38-year-old Rozsival has one goal and one assist in 51 games this season, his fifth in Chicago. He's played on two Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks team.

The 34-year-old Tootoo has yet to record a point in 36 games for the Blackhawks this season, his first in Chicago.
