Bears 2017 NFL Draft Tracker: Live Updates, News & Analysis

(CBS) Following a dismal 3-13, the Bears encounter another key event in their quest to rebuild with this weekend's NFL Draft.

Chicago is looking to restock a roster in need of more playmaker and depth. After being held in Chicago for two years, the draft has moved to Philadelphia, and it starts Thursday at 7 p.m. CT with the Browns going on the clock at No. 1 overall. The Bears hold the No. 3 pick.

Friday's buzz

6:29 p.m. -- The Bears made another trade to get Friday evening going, giving the Cardinals their second-round pick (No. 36) and seventh-rounder (No. 221) for a second-rounder (No. 45), fourth-rounder (No. 119) and sixth-rounder (No. 197). Additionally, Chicago receives a 2018 fourth-rounder.

1:41 p.m. -- Like so many, Bears coach John Fox was in the dark about the team drafting Mitchell Trubisky, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports.

11:23 a.m. -- Mitchell Trubisky has arrived in Chicago.

10:54 a.m. -- The Bears' selection of Mitchell Trubisky is as dangerous as it feels, writes Tim Baffoe.

9:42 a.m. -- The key for the Bears in developing Mitchell Trubisky? Patience, patience, patience, writes Greg Gabriel.

Thursday's buzz

11:13 p.m. -- General manager Ryan Pace emphasized that Mike Glennon is the Bears' starting quarterback. "There is no quarterback competition," Pace said.

11:12 p.m. -- Ryan Pace on Mitchell Trubisky: "He has the traits to be a championship quarterback."

10:52 p.m. -- With the first round done, the Bears turn their attention to the second round, where they hold the fourth pick of Friday evening at No. 36 overall.

9:55 p.m. -- The Raiders drafted Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley at No. 24. Conley has been accused of raping a woman at a Cleveland hotel on April 9. No charges have been filed, and he has denied the accusations.

9:29 p.m. -- Shortly after making the bold move, Bears general manager Ryan Pace dialed Mitchell Trubisky to welcome him to the organization.

9:10 p.m. -- 670 The Score host Dan Bernstein's reaction to the Bears taking Mitchell Trubisky? Wow, Ryan Pace.

8:58 p.m. -- Trubisky indicated he had minimal contact with the Bears leading up to the draft. His only meeting with them came at the NFL Combine. "I'm ready to get to Chicago and show them what I'm all about," Trubisky said.

8:42 p.m. -- Trubisky is excited to be a Chicago Bear.

8:32 p.m. -- The Texans traded for the 12th pick, moving into the Browns' spot and taking Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

8:20 p.m. -- The Chiefs pulled off the next shocker, trading their No. 27 pick in this draft, a third-rounder and a 2018 first-rounder to the Bulls to grab Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes at No. 10.

7:41 p.m. -- With its photo choice, the 49ers social media team trolled the Bears after selecting Stanford defensive lineman Solomon Thomas at No. 3

7:23 p.m. -- In a shocking move, the Bears took North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

7:16 p.m. -- The Bears have traded up to the No. 2 pick, trading a third-round (No. 67) and fourth-rounder (No. 111) in this draft and a 2018 third-rounder. They're now on the clock.

7:06 p.m. -- The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock.

6:44 p.m. -- The Bears are looking to trade down from the No. 3 pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

3:44 p.m. -- The Browns will draft Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett at No. 1, the Plain Dealer reports.

10:12 a.m. -- After some speculation to the contrary, signs continue to point to the Browns taking Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett at No. 1, the Plain Dealer reports.

On Thursday, the quintet of Jeff Joniak, Tom Thayer, Patrick Mannelly, Dan Pompei and Hub Arkush will host a live draft show from 6-10 p.m. breaking down all the first-round selections. Following them, Julie DiCaro and Greg Gabriel will do the same from 10 p.m. to midnight.

On Friday, 670 The Score will carry the Cubs-Red Sox game in the evening.

On Saturday, Steve Rosenbloom and David Schuster will be on from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. After that, Arkush will host solo from 1-2:30 p.m. Cubs pregame then starts at 2:30, with a 3:05 first pitch. Following the conclusion of the Cubs game and then postgame, DiCaro and Gabriel will be on until 10 p.m. reacting to the NFL Draft.

NFL Draft schedule

The draft is being held at Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.

Round 1: Thursday, 7 p.m. (ESPN, NFL Network)
Rounds 2-3: Friday, 6 p.m. (ESPN, NFL Network)
Rounds 4-7: Saturday, 11 a.m. (ESPN, NFL Network)

Note: Teams have 10 minutes to make picks in the first round, seven minutes to make picks in the second round and five minutes to make picks in rounds three through six. Seventh-round and compensatory picks will have four minutes to be selected.
