A candlelight vigil in Lesly's memory was held Wednesday evening at the Spanish Community Center in Joliet.

At the vigil, Lesly's father tearfully spoke in Spanish. A woman translated for him afterward.

"What Lesly's father has said is that when this happened, he knew; he had a gut feeling that something was just not right. There was something wrong when she went missing. As time went on and they got the news, this has been very devastating for him," she said.

As translated by the woman, Lesly's father said: "If I did something wrong, Lesly, please forgive me. I beg for forgiveness. This is the worst thing that anybody has to endure."
