Native Minnesotan embracing her Century Farm heritage, (farms purchased in 1881, now in Lisa’s family for 135 years, are being managed by her father) as the Regenstein Fruit and Vegetable Garden Horticulturist at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Lisa manages the 4 acre Fruit and Vegetable Garden following USDA protocol and standards for organic growing. Leading a crew of 4 and a team of 35 horticulture volunteers, she curates and interprets a collection of 600 edible plants, two orchards and an apiary plus works on designing and installing large seasonal annual displays. Last year 50,000 vegetables grew in the Fruit and Vegetable Garden producing a harvest of three tons of fresh produce. Lisa mentors interns from the Chicago Botanic Garden’s urban agriculture program- Windy City Harvest Apprenticeship Program, College First-Chicago Public Schools and The French Heritage Society. She teaches certificate classes and workshops at the Joseph Regenstein School of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
