A south suburban man is being held on a $1 million bond after police conducting a traffic stop in west suburban Bloomingdale turned up nearly half a million dollars’ worth of cocaine and methamphetamine Wednesday.
The shooting death of a 40-year-old man on the West Side was the city’s 500th murder this year, city officials said Friday after initially disagreeing on the tally.
Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said the tally could go considerably higher. Pallets were still being unloaded at a West Side police warehouse where the weapons will be sorted.
