A Salvation Army bell-ringer was taking a scheduled break from her duties outside of a Walgreens drug store at 95th Street and Melvina Avenue when the theft occurred. She returned to find the kettle and its contents gone.

Two nuns and an elderly man were killed Sunday, when the man ran a red light, and plowed into cars stopped in the oncoming lanes in Oak Lawn. Eleven other people were injured in the wreck, two of them critically.

The man, 20, and the 17-year-old boy were sitting on a porch near 95th Street and Harvard Avenue at 8:35 p.m. when four unknown males walked up and started shooting, police said. The man was shot in the back, and the boy in the nose.
